A group of kids join a secret agency where they learn to use the power of imagination to journey into the Dream World and create fantastic creations in order to help sleeping children being terrorized by the evil Nightmare King who is bent on conquering the Dream World and invading the Waking World.

Long before time had a name, the First Spinjitzu Master created the realm of Ninjago using the four Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu. Before he passed, his two sons swore to protect the weapons from evil, but the older brother, Garmadon, was consumed by darkness and aimed to wield all four weapons so that he could recreate Ninjago in his own image. In the ensuing battle between brothers, the younger brother Wu cast Garmadon down to the Underworld and hid the weapons across Ninjago. Now, Sensei Wu finds four teenage ninja to recover the Golden Weapons and save Ninjago from Garmadon and his Skulkin army.

When Cole returns to Yang's haunted temple to seek revenge on a former Airjitzu Master, he accidentally uses a powerful Dark Magic blade that unleashes the spectral forms of Ninjago's greatest villains and traps himself in the temple. The Ninja must return the ghosts to the Departed Realm before it's too late.

The Oni are coming … As demonic darkness descends upon the realm of NINJAGO, the time has come for our heroes to rise again and protect the land that all Masters of Spinjitzu call home. It is a world filled with a rich history and legacy, and it is from here where our ninja heroes must unlock an even greater power to defeat the darkness that is marching towards them. What could these shapeshifting dark forces be, why do they want to destroy NINJAGO, and how can they be defeated?

When the Ninja find a young boy, Jan, under attack by strange shadow creatures, they leap into action. But their fighting skills prove useless against their new enemies' powers and Jan is captured. Just as hope begins to fade, the dream chasers arrive to help. Together, they turn the tide, only to discover they're actually in Jan's dream. Now, united with the dream chasers, the Ninja must free Jan and the dream world from the sinister Nightmare King.

Jack and Parker work to seal a Hidden Side hole when a fire ghost escapes covered in a strange silvery substance and reveals that their world may be doomed.
