1957. As a farewell for her lover Teresa, Zurda and her friends go on one of their usual weekend camp-outs in the middle of the woods. A time stolen for rest, playfulness and illicit pleasures, away from the watchful eye of Franco’s dictatorship.
Alma is fifteen years old, she sings in the town choir and begins to connect with her sexuality. Her father, Kike, director of the choir, has lost his voice due to a laryngectomy. As the concert they prepare together for the summer holidays draws near, tensions rise between father and daughter.
Can oral history restore a forgotten part of our past? Can it break the silence perpetuated over generations? In 1969, seventeen-year-old Mariona was arrested and imprisoned in a reformatory governed by the Patronato de Protección a la Mujer (Women's Welfare Agency), which was dedicated to "regenerating fallen women" during the Francoist dictatorship. In 2023, Mariona and her daughter look back in an effort to piece together her story.
