A group of teenagers go on a school camp in the Blue Mountains in Australia. While at the camp, Paul Reynolds accidentally goes into a parallel universe. This other world is inhabited by a more hierarchic and technologically different society, ruled by a group of people known as Spellbinders.
The film starts with the veteran thespian Harish Mishra, he is gravely ill. His co-star, Shabnam, is wracked with worry, but their director, Siddharth, keeps strangely distant and refuses to visit his ailing star. In flashbacks, their story emerges.
Leah is travelling the world when she eventually settles in Beijing, China, where she meets Master Sun Zhan who teaches her the art of weiqi. Her path crosses with American Chinese Richard whose family had sent him to Beijing to arrange his grandfather's ashes. A romance soon blossoms between them.
