Biography

Glen McIntosh is a Canadian animation supervisor at Framestore. He grew up in Calgary, Alberta, and developed an early fascination with dinosaurs during visits to the badlands and fossil fields of Drumheller. His formal animation training began with a Classical Animation Program at Sheridan College. After completing his studies, McIntosh relocated internationally to pursue work in animation, including stints at Don Bluth Studios in Dublin, Ireland, and at Twentieth Century Fox Studios in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1998, he joined Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), where he contributed his creative talents across animation, supervisory roles, and concept and storyboard design over the years. Early in his ILM tenure, he served as character animator on George Lucas’s Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999), and later took on lead character animator roles in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005). His credits also include lead character animator on Hulk (2003), character supervising on Eragon (2006), and serving as animation supervisor on Battleship (2012), as well as supervising animation on the attraction Star Tours: The Adventures Continue (2011). One of McIntosh’s most recognised roles was as Animation Supervisor on Jurassic World (2015), where he also participated in creature design work, helping to develop the Indominus rex and other genetically modified or engineered creatures. Beyond his film work, McIntosh is active in education and scientific outreach, lecturing on dinosaur movement and animal locomotion at institutions like the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller, the University of California at Berkeley, and international conferences. He often returns to Alberta to study fossils in person as inspiration for his creature-based artistry.
