Sometimes it seems to parents that their child has been replaced... and two Ivanov families from the south of Russia are simply sure of this: after 16 years, namesakes will find out that their children were confused in the maternity hospital. What if your beloved son is not really your own, but your blood is being raised by strangers? And in a luxury that you never even dreamed of. And how will he accept his new, but painfully poor relatives?

The "Big Difference" is created not only for the audience, but also for those who became the hero of the parody - TV presenters and actors. A guest who comes to the studio seems to see himself through a magnifying glass, because all the details are taken into account in the parody: the character's manner of dressing, speaking, diction features, plastic, makeup, hairstyle. The uniqueness of the project is that in addition to entertainment, the program also has a developmental function. After all, our guest, who is being parodied, has a chance to look at himself from the outside, to see his shortcomings and advantages. Some people like themselves, and some don't. But the main thing is that no one remains indifferent.

In each episode, Sergei and Nadia Nesterov discuss with a psychologist the problems of a large family: the midlife crisis, Tamara's grandmother's manipulations, the teenage dilemmas of Katya and Vasilisa's daughters, the hyperactivity of Misha's son. But the main thing they come to a specialist for is to save a 17—year marriage.

The main characters of the film are residents of different places of this country, most common people, with whom most uncommon things, pure wonders, happen. Semyon and Lyuba, a family of fireguards, have a chance to fulfill a dream – to go to Moscow to take part in their favorite TV show “Field of Miracles” (“Pole Chudes”), where they should make a life choice “trophy or money?” An inexperienced officer of Patrol-Guard Service and at the same time an experienced loser Sanya will have to not only survive his first day of service but also to accept his wife’s labors and to reanimate his partner. Four newly acquainted fellows must by any means fly to Moscow in non-flying weather, and a couple of young lovers must reconcile their irreconcilable parents by some mysterious way. Valera has to decide on a dilemma: to save mankind from the Deluge or just to fly with his karaoke-alien-friends in their old UFO? All these things can happen only once a year – on December, 31!

The company of three guys and two girls makes their way to the old funicular to have an unforgettable New Year’s Eve celebration at the top of the mountain. A fun adventure turns into a nightmare when the funicular stops over the abyss. Coldness, height and fear of a slow death make them reveal their true essence and get in a fight with each other.

The Ivanovs are preparing to celebrate the New Year in Egypt. But on board the plane they encounter robbers who are trying to take the ring stolen from the museum abroad. A fight ensues in flight, which causes the plane to land urgently in Yerevan. The New Year is coming, the hotels are busy, but Hamlet's brother David helps everyone out. It would seem that now you can safely celebrate the holiday, but the stolen ring accidentally falls to the Ivanovs, and the robbers do not give up trying to return it. This is how the Ivanovs' adventures in Armenia begin.
