The Male Gaze is a new series of releases from New Queer Visions that showcases short LGBTQ films from across the world. It takes in films from Sweden, Indonesia, USA, Australia and France giving a rounded look at how similar experiences are depicted across the world. The films are: Naked [Naken] (2013); Pria (2017); Walk With Me (2018), One Night Only (2018); Michel's Mouse [Tapette] (2016).

'Naked' is a modern-day drama set in Sweden which centers on two young men, Erik and Anthony. They share a night of passion after a party, and as ostensibly heterosexual men with girlfriends, this event disturbs them greatly and forces them to grapple with issues of identity in every facet of their lives. The two men, increasingly agitated, hurtle toward an explosive and unpredictable confrontation.

A female android in therapy battles her demons. Robot X.Y.A. is made in our image, yet it is not acceptable for her to act like us. Built to serve, she must accept whatever comes her way, working like a machine in an office, completing dull computational tasks. Yet… she is programmed to think like us, but has to suppress her emotions. She must go to therapy in their 'downtime', a short lunch break session while the androids reboot. This is where we enter.
