The movie begins by showing how Schneller takes up the profession of a teacher out of love for the children. When the First World War begins, he becomes a 'volunteer officer' and slowly the political situation begins to shape him. He develops into a revolutionary fighter.

Alfons is very unlucky boy. Even when he intends well everything is going wrong, so his life is full of various mishaps.

Tank commander Sergeant Tessen does not believe that his crew can become a successful collective and requests his transfer, but he finally withdraws his request due to a young boy to whom he carelessly promised a tank model.
