William Corlett

ITV Playhouse is a British comedy-drama TV series that ran from 1967 to 1983, which featured contributions from playwrights such as Dennis Potter, Rhys Adrian and Alan Sharp. The series began in black and white, but was later shot in colour and was produced by various companies for the ITV network, a format that would inspire Dramarama. Actors appearing in the series included Leslie Anderson, Gwen Nelson, Ricky Alleyne, Pat Heywood, Michael Elphick, Ian Hendry, Edward Woodward, Margaret Lockwood, Jessie Matthews and Lloyd Peters.

This ten episode program was based on ten short stories written by Agatha Christie but with wide-ranging themes. Some were romances, some had supernatural themes and a couple were adventures. The common link was that all came from the talented pen of Agatha Christie, all were entertaining and each drama was carefully crafted and well cast with many of Britain's best known actors of the time represented.

Armchair Theatre is a British television drama anthology series of single plays that ran on the ITV network from 1956 to 1974. It was originally produced by Associated British Corporation, and later by Thames Television from mid-1968.

An anthology of six standalone plays presented relationships either beginning or ending in love – but the outcome was not always marriage (or happiness). A second series of five episodes aired in 1986.

Moonacre is a 1994 British miniseries loosely based on Elizabeth Goudge's 1946 children's fantasy novel The Little White Horse. Produced and directed by Robin Crichton, and dramatised by William Corlett, the six-part serial stars Camilla Power, Jean Anderson, and Noah Huntley. When Maria Merryweather is orphaned, she must move to Moonacre Manor with her ever-faithful governess, Miss Heliotrope, and her Spaniel, Wiggins. Maria isn't at the Manor long before she discovers that her new home has a tragic past, which she becomes determined to correct.

During the Second World War, a group of youth in the Northeast England town of Garmouth regularly suffer from bomb attacks by the German forces. One of the children raids a crashed German aircraft and takes a fully operational machine gun, intending to set up their own fortress. Playing with it causes a German plane to crash-land; the kids befriend the pilot, who is unaware that they had caused him to crash.

A young American widow is mysteriously drawn to a historic castle in the Scottish Highlands and finds herself at the center of a 200-year old ghost story.

The story concerns the relationship between Peter, a 15 year old boy, and Mr Faulkner, an old man whom he befriends. Mr Faulkner used to be a school teacher but had retired after allegations were made about him by a pupil. There was still gossip about him in the town. Mr Faulkner teaches Peter a lot about literature and introduces him to poetry and when Peter returns to school the two of them correspond. The friendship between them is threatened when Peter starts going out with Sue who disapproves of him spending time with the old man.

Peter feels he has to choose between his friend, Mr Falconer, and his new girlfriend, Sue.

A remote stone house nestles peacefully on the edge of the Yorkshire moors. In the garden. Faith Armstrong describes the flowers and the late afternoon skies to Jack, her blind husband.
