Anniversary evening of the legend of the Soviet ballet, People's Artist of the USSR Galina Ulanova. It is dedicated to the actress' 70th anniversary and was held at the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of the USSR, in 1980.

Famed Bolshoi duo Yekaterina Maximova and Vladimir Vasiliev star in this production of Tchaikovsky's beloved ballet, The Nutcracker. Maximova dances the role of Maria, the young girl whose mysterious uncle Drosselmeyer gives her a wooden nutcracker (Vasiliev) for Christmas. When he comes to life, she rescues him from marauding mice and is taken to the Kingdom of Sweets.

On Christmas Eve, Marie receives an enchanted toy as a gift from her uncle Albert. At night, it comes to life and engages in an unequal battle with the mouse army and their formidable king. Staged by Yuri Grigorovich for the Bolshoi Theatre in 1977.

Peasant girl Giselle dies of a broken heart after discovering her lover is betrothed to another. She is summoned from the grave by spirits who dance men to death. The spirits target her lover for death, but Giselle's great love frees him from their grasp.

Film-ballet written by composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The authors of the movie tell the story of the ballet's creation, as well as about various stage productions with the participation of outstanding performers of the role of Odette-Odile. The movie includes fragments of the ballet staged by choreographers Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.
