Biography
PV Lehtinen was born in Helsinki, Finland. He is internationally acclaimed short film director, writer and producer. His international breakthrough was short film The Diver (Hyppääjä, 2000), which made history at the Tampere International Short Film Festival by winning the Grand Prix and four other prizes. In one way or another, many of his films involve the element of water, which he feels is an extremely interesting visual element.

The beloved comedian Simo Salminen began his career as a National Championship level diver in the 1950s. Entertainment was an integral part of his sporting life, and Salminen began performing clown dives in a clown costume to the delight of children. The short film Simo Was Here takes the now elderly Salminen back to the Helsinki Swimming Stadium and illustrates his memories of the good old days. This nostalgic work is dedicated to the memory of Salminen, who passed away in 2015.

The Crawl

Dance On Thin Ice tells the story of Felix, a twelve-year-old boy who is left to spend Christmas alone while his parents travel to India. A reluctant Felix ends up as an ice cream seller at a deserted swimming stadium, where the surface of the pool has frozen solid. But the swimming stadium is not completely deserted after all. Felix meets a dark-haired refugee girl called Fakira, whose parents were killed in a bombing in Syria. A dreamlike story where two young strangers to each other, a boy and a refugee girl, meet under unusual circumstances. Together, they make the impossible possible.
Dance on Thin Ice

The Diver is a hymn to diving and the aesthetics of movement. It is a dreamlike collage of movement, music and narration honouring the most beautiful sport there is. Helge Wasenius (b. 1927), The Grand Old Man of divers, is the principal character in the film, a colourful daredevil of the sport.
