Biography
Jean Tedesco (1895–1958) was a French film director, film critic and screenwriter. Chief editor of the Cinéa magazine he also was managing director of the théâtre du Vieux-Colombier between 1924 and 1934 where he showed avant-garde films during the 1920s.

The Little Match Girl
A train driver has not slowed down at a signal and caused an accident whose victim is a gatekeeper. Two inspectors come to investigate the affair. During his interrogation, the driver refuses to provide an explanation for his action and is charged with malpractice. The only one he will tell the truth to is the gatekeeper's wife.

In 1923, André Sauvage produced his first film La Traversée du Grépon. Dedicated to mountaineering in the Mont Blanc massif, this documentary is a performance that earned him the recognition of his peers. André Sauvage and his companions decide to climb the Grépon, the best known of the Aiguilles de Chamonix, in the Mont Blanc Massif. Early in the morning, they cross the Mer de Glace, climb rocky peaks, abseil summits, cross crevasses, snowfields and long seracs. After sixteen hours of effort, the climbers return to the refuge. With his camera, Sauvage documents the difficult undertaking, also showing his strong passion for the mountains. "The deepest perception of mountains begins where intelligence ends." (A. Sauvage). Two long versions of the film have disappeared, one of 90 and the other of 51 minutes and only eight minutes are preserved.

A friendly average Frenchman pretends to be a famous commissioner on vacation. He arrives in a castle converted into a boarding house where, after dinner, guests are invited to participate in a "murder-party". The so-called victim of this little game is really murdered and the fake commissioner must lead the investigation.
Mort ou vif
This film shows the manufacture of tin cans on a large scale, from the smoothing of the lamina to completion, and indicates the diversity of articles made: from tinplate, to bottle-caps.
