Two stories - "The mask model": An advertising executive, Mateo, gets involved with all the women he can, but he doesn't allow his wife to work. The company photographer is in love with her, so he takes advantage of her and tells her about her husband's infidelities. "Los encuerados": Some women do a casting to renew the male staff of their exclusive business for ladies.
The Red Sunsets is the quest of a couple that converges in politic exile and love to find the Mexico that exists now and the one that has vanished for us.
Through the tides of the Pacific Ocean, the origins and legacy of colonialism unfold in interwoven stories. Following the historic route of the Manila Galleon — which connected the Philippines and New Spain, ferrying Chinese goods from 1565 to 1815 — time bends and blurs. Past and present collide in a surreal tapestry of automated beings, shifting spaces, and fleeting lights fading into shadow.
Carmen, a sixty-year-old woman, travels from Mexico City to the town where she was born after forty years of absence. There she begins to look for the traces of her father, who left her at birth, whether he is alive or dead. She wanders among distant relatives and flashes of her past. A story divided between melancholy and the luminous sky.
