A series of murders takes place in a hotel on Christmas Eve. Survivors are taken for interrogation. Each of the survivors tells a different side of the story, but the FBI agent is more interested in the story between the lines.
Due to psychological issues with performing his secret mission the undercover detective visits a private psychiatrist and tells her about the reason for his visit. When she thinks the detective is just another ordinary patient with a need for a "cathartic" conversation and discussing his heady action detective experience, she realizes he's a much more complicated case, a case she might not be able to take in her stride.
