Father and daughter are fitting out their house away from civilization. Shots are heard in the forest and the father is surprised to learn that his daughter has killed an unexpected animal for dinner. Since this moment, he realizes trouble is close.

Early morning in a Yakut village, a shot... Those who committed the crime hide in the forest, where they are accidentally found by local women. They tell everyone in the village about it. Enraged residents decide to carry out lynching.

In a Yakut village, one opposite the other, two single-parent families live, without mothers. The timid and unrequited Ivan is constantly humiliated by his neighbor, the impudent and self-confident Tikhon. After Tikhon beats Ivan in front of his son, the teenager becomes disillusioned with his father and begins to spend more and more time with his offender.

He opened his own film company in his father's garage, shot a short film that won at various Russian and international film festivals and was shown from Canada to New Zealand. Now he is the most promising young film director in Yakutia, hunted by Moscow agencies and producers. But he is not going anywhere and continues to create his own cinema in a remote Yakut village.

Somewhere in one of the apartments a frank story unfolds about a man who, secretly from his wife, begins to flirt with a seductive neighbor. In a neighboring house, a young guy borrows a lot of money from a businessman to play on the difference in exchange rates, but on this particular day the dollar exchange rate goes crazy. And the crazy old man, meanwhile, goes to another city to meet with the killer of his son, so that he will answer for everything. All of them are faced with the question of choosing and making difficult decisions on which their lives depend.

The film shows a few days from the life of a simple young, rural boy who has life difficulties: can't find a job and pay off his mortgage, but still with a good heart – helps a lonely, sick grandmother chop wood, light the stove and buy food.

He is forty years old. He left his wife and children in order to care for his mother, who is under seventy. She has Alzheimer's disease. She begins to forget who she is, and ceases to recognize her son. The hero has one goal in life - by all means keep her mother’s memory of herself. He takes her from village to town to start a new life with her.

After a long absence, Arkady returns to his parents' house and restores the tombstones of his ancestors. He plunges into memories of the terrible events of his childhood. These experiences are difficult for him. Soon, Arkady pays more and more attention to a strange neighbor who, as he later finds out, is hiding a terrible secret.

The story about 40-year-old Vasily, who has been trying to find for more than 20 years happiness in the city. When coming back home to the village, he understands that his already nobody waits and nobody wants it already.

"Illegal" is an action-packed drama about a young migrant from Central Asia who comes to Yakutia to solve his problem.
