St. Peter's announcement interrupts the Welcome to Morning Coffee radio program. He asks people for help because he does not know whether private detective Uljas Uriel Vaaksanpää has died or is still alive. The strange events are followed from the perspective of different characters.

The old sheriff demands that his nephew Lauri, who serves as the village policeman, continue the generations-old tradition of arresting the old master of Tippavaara, whom the sheriff believes to be brewing moonshine. The director of the Vaudeville Theater is looking for new performers after the former star was forced to give up her singing career. Out of numerous auditionees, singer P. Waltteri Vitikka is hired. At the same time, the janitor tries to maintain order in the theater.

University student Jaakko and master's degree holder Aarne arrive in a rural village, where they become involved in organizing a charity event and the relationship problems of farmhand Kaapro and maid Senni.
