Summer break at last! But instead of going on vacation, little Mika helps her father clean Frankfurt's apartment buildings. Not because she likes the work so much, but because it allows her to be close to her father. A man who has withdrawn since the death of his wife. This can be seen in her care waiting at night until her father comes home, buying his daily ration of beer with the tattered power of attorney or in her childish naivety as she admires the golden stumbling blocks while sweeping them and doesn't know what they mean. We experience two days in the life of a child that oscillates between being an adult and a child. A life between small, intimate and special moments of happiness, but also the confrontation with everyday racism and pain.
This is a movie about home, family and relationships. Snapshots of the individual characters and their conflicts meld so we can immerse ourselves in a world of multicultural collision.
Leon, from Frankfurt, returns to his native Albania after 20 years to scatter his deceased grandfather's ashes in the sea and is forced to confront his past and the family he never wanted to see again.
In the Albanian port city of Durrës, Arion, a former inmate, is released from prison to fight in illegal bare-knuckle bouts at the notorious venue «The Circle» on behalf of Ilir, who is heavily in debt. Club owner Hans is initially skeptical of Arion. However, as Arion attracts more and more attention, Hans recognizes his commercial potential as well. What begins as a way out of poverty turns into a risky game when Ilir becomes involved in an illegal betting ring.
