Narcissister

This hybrid performance/documentary film explores how the artist’s complex family history, in particular her relationship with her mother, compelled her to create the masked, erotic performance character Narcissister.

The life of short film artist, Eric Fournier, creator of the legendary Shaye St. John, is finally told.

Focusing on the exercise by women of their right to bare their breasts in public, this film is an investigation into how prohibitions on female toplessness are grounded in fear of, and desire to control, the female body.

The performance artist Narcississter spins, poses, and works her way into the “ideal woman” set to the iconic Chaka Khan song.
