The funny, heartfelt story of The Kims, a Korean-Canadian family, running a convenience store in downtown Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Kim ('Appa' and 'Umma') immigrated to Toronto in the '80s to set up shop near Regent Park and had two kids, Jung and Janet who are now young adults. However, when Jung was 16, he and Appa had a major falling out involving a physical fight, stolen money and Jung leaving home. Father and son have been estranged since.

In order to escape her looming post-graduation fate that includes student debt and zero romantic prospects, Blake Conway becomes a sugar baby. As the aspiring journalist and hopeless romantic documents the adventure, she sets out on a quest to figure out if society is right to judge these women and if her own self worth comes with a price.

After being raised in the wilderness, a teenage girl moves to the city hoping for a normal life with her anything but normal mother.

Many of our Toronto students have experienced being new at some point: They’ve moved to new schools, new neighbourhoods, and even new countries. They created a story about the difficulties of trying to fit into a new environment while still being true to yourself. By exaggerating the experience for comedic effect, their film puts viewers in their shoes, and shows how overwhelming it can be to be the new kid.
