Hedda Vernon, born Hedwig Klara Kemp, was a German actress, screenwriter, and producer. She was a prominent star of the early Weimar Republic, and had her own film unit set up to produce her pictures.

The smart detective Brown had once convicted the criminal Ellen Sandow and brought her to prison. Now he visits her in the infirmary there.
