The film begins in the 1930s after he has married the daughter of an industrialist, Annie, who is also a concert pianist. This era was frustrating for Leifs because his works were seldom performed. Lilla discovers that she'll be getting a new doll for christmas so she decides to throw the old one away, but once she falls asleep bad dreams start to haunt her.

Disa and Tommy are board by catching small fishes by the pier. They get a hold of a boat and head out to sea to catch a big one. But the fight with the big one turns out to be more than they can handle and soon they find themselves stranded on a reef. They on one reef and their boat on an other. The tie starts coming in and the fight with the big one is not over.
