Anne (Mother), a 2016–2017 Turkish drama, follows Zeynep, a substitute teacher who discovers her 7-year-old student, Melek, is being severely abused and neglected by her mother, Sule. To save her, Zeynep kidnaps Melek, fakes her death, and attempts to become her adoptive mother, leading to an emotional, high-stakes battle for custody and safety.

The protagonist of the story, Ercüment Çözer rebels against disrespect and rudeness that we tend to avoid, ignore and eventually forget. Ercüment Çözer is a sociopath obsessed with the idea of respect. However, this time, he is not alone on his obsessive journey. The young lovers Helen and Savas, who have just stepped foot into the real world, find themselves in the middle of difficult situations after being mistreated by a group of people and end up being responsible for a chain of murders that take place in Istanbul. The concept of disrespect instantly turns into a social and mediatic struggle between the two generations. As for the mediatic follow up, Turkey’s most famous morning show host, Hasret will undertake it, however, nobody knows that she is also about to take part in this journey on another level. In this biographical drama, the Turkish writer Rifat Ilgaz (Tarik Akan) is forced to go into internal exile after World War Two, because the government suspects him of being a communist. Most of the movie follows him while he is on the lam, and during his reunion with his wife, who grows testy from the restrictions that hiding him impose on her. Eventually he turns himself in, and while in prison, suffers some torture. All the same, he endures with the flame of his spirit undiminished.

Tamer, reliant on friends to navigate life, Aslı, aimless and living with family while tending to a sick neighbor, and Celil, an ordinary caregiver emotionally detached but devoted to his patients until death, cross paths in a poignant exploration of interdependence and survival.
