A Greek series that presents aspects of the lives of folk musicians who formed a rebetiko band during the 1930s-1960s. The title To Minore tis Avgis comes from the song of the same name, with lyrics by Minos Matsas and music by Spyros Peristeris. The series, which premiered on ERT on January 14, 1983, and was completed in two cycles of 14 and 13 episodes respectively, features popular songs by Vamvakaris, Tsitsanis, Papaioannou, Hatzichristou, and others. Antonis Zagouras is a young rebetis who arrives in Athens from Syros in search of fortune. He becomes a member of a rebetiko band and embarks on an exciting journey full of love, success, but also many disappointments, until he gains social and artistic recognition.

Then Anna goes on a transfer to Alexandria, Egypt, and there she meets her future husband Christidis. Their romance ends in marriage and the newlywed couple comes to Athens. Anna finds a job and works as a secretary at the Soviet embassy. During the years of German occupation, she is arrested by the Gestapo, survives after many hardships, gets caught up in the whirlwind of the civil war and finally manages to raise her children.

Giannis is a subversive young man who rebels against any social institution or authority. Unemployed by conviction, he cohabits with his German friend Ilze, who supports him, helps his arrogant uncle , a fallen aristocrat, with his drug smuggling, and becomes friends with a Pontian Turk, Mustapha. The latter has entered Greece illegally and follows Giannis to Athens, hoping to find his Greek grandmother, who is none other than Giannis' grandmother as well. Mustapha steals the hearty of Ilze, whom he entertains with tales of his exploits, but the uncle turns them over to the police, and so they are truly in a tight squeeze. They get out of doing time, despite it all, and leave for Turkey, but they stray into Albania, where they are arrested and sentenced to manual labor.

Makis and Litsa, a couple in their forties, pressured by financial difficulties and midlife problems, see the possibility of inheriting from their aunt as a way out of their troubles. But Litsa's sister and her husband, as well as their aunt's lawyer and his friend, an engineer, have their own plans. The bequest of part of the inheritance to charities forces them all to take a trip to their late uncle's birthplace. An unexpected event, however, upsets their plans, giving the whole affair uncontrollable dimensions.
