Biography
Matthew John Lawrence is an American writer, director, producer, and editor. His work, which includes both narrative and documentary, has played over 180 festivals, museums, and art houses on five different continents, earning numerous awards along the way. His films and videos have been written about in The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, and The A.V. Club, among others. Matthew's feature film Uncle Peckerhead was produced by Subtle T-Rex and distributed in August 2020 by Dread, the genre arm of Epic Pictures Group. The film holds a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is available in over 30 countries internationally. His latest feature film, Bloody Axe Wound, was released theatrically on December 27, 2024, debuted on Shudder in March 2025, and later went to Hulu in September 2025.
