As a young adult, he had his first on-set experience in Bollywood. He then fell in love with Iranian cinema and developed, during his university years, a deep fascination for the unique cultural landscape of Quebec, his homeland. To describe his films, the press has used expressions such as "figure of a blazing UFO," "defies classification," "a small tectonic tremor in our cinema," "pure direct cinema, with humour, tenderness and singularity," and "irresistible."
