The film focuses on the exciting life journey of Swiss writer Katharina Zimmermann. She follows her husband on a mission to the jungle in Indonesia where she raises their four children and five foster children and lives through the military coup. Back in Switzerland Katharina discovers her voice and finds her path. Now, at eighty, she is writing her life story. Yet suddenly she faces another battle because her publisher is threatening to let her go.

A gigantic investment project brings assistant Frank Schröder back to his home, the border triangle. Torn between appropriation, small-mindedness and rivalries, his plan for a major collaboration threatens to fail. But Schröder does not give up and manages to turn things around. But then his boss wants to go wolf hunting.

In moving interviews, four fathers describe their suffering and efforts to keep contact with their children. A mother justifies the refusal of contact from her point of view. Despite the seriousness of the topic, the film manages to remain entertaining and even delivers an amusing snapshot of German sensitivities and the state of the Republic.

'Sunday Girls' is a portrait of four young German actresses: Laura Tonke, Nicolette Krebitz, Katharina Schuettler and Inga Birkenfeld. They are members of a new group of young actresses who try to put their passion for films into practice, away from the mainstream TV market. Their individuality and their will to remain independent is what makes them so interesting... their luck, their fears, their goals, the things that life is made up of...
