Mahmood Ostad Mohammad

A young teacher, a tutor, enters the school and tries to make friendly relations with his pupils. His relations with a student, one of whom is from an unsuitable family, is more than equivalent to the ensure that he should oppose the headmaster in a school play.

In this experimental Iranian film, a being who has turned its back on the familiar and ordinary daily life embarks on a quest to find an escape to the beyond. It eventually reaches those who have already attained liberation and joins them. Leaving behind the ruins of its past days, it becomes part of another group of beings from a different world.

Shahr-e ghesse is perhaps the most popular of all Persian plays, was written in traditional rhythmic style that resulted in a kind of musical drama. Although it seems at first glance to have been written for children, its main audience, it is in fact a parable about contemporary socio political issues.
