Set in Rome, it is a spin-off of the series Distretto di Polizia, which aired on the same network from 2000 to 2012, reprising the character of Roberto Ardenzi, played by the protagonist Giorgio Tirabassi.

Nathalie Adler is on a mission for the EU in Sicily. She organizes the next visit of Macron and Merkel to a migrant camp.
