Aileen Despard

When actress Diana Baring is found in a daze beside her colleague’s murdered body, all evidence points to her guilt. During the trial, juror Sir John Menier doubts the verdict, but yields to pressure. Haunted by remorse, he launches his own investigation.

John Wynn returns to his family after serving time in prison for a crime they believed he didn't commit, or perhaps for an action they had largely moved past. His return creates a "thread" of tension that threatens to unravel the lives his wife, Amelia, and their children have built in his absence. The film focuses on the emotional and societal adjustments required to reintegrate a disgraced family member into a respectable British household.

A short comedy made to present Film Weekly acting scholarship winners Cyril Butcher and Aileen Despard, directed by Alfred Hitchcock and shown at the London Palladium in January 1930. Produced for British International Pictures, the film is believed to be lost.

A casual date at a high-class hotel leads Binnie, an aspiring showgirl, to be mistaken for model and actress Lia de Marita – landing her an audition for the producer of a new musical stage show. Marvelling at her good fortune, what Binnie doesn't know is that Lia is also the wife of a notorious jewel thief and that she's already fled the country in possession of a valuable, ill-gotten necklace!
