An army sergeant blames himself for causing a rookie's death during training.

Donald Grant, after serving a prison term, obtains a job in a smalltown factory where he meets Helen Wilburton, who invites him to board with her and her father. He marries her, and on the first night of their honeymoon, a burglary is traced to one of Donald's former cohorts.

A solo driver could use a pick-me-up on his late-night drive through Ohio. Unfortunately the local coffee shop he finds himself in is closing up for the night with nothing left to offer him. Out of desperation, a deal is struck with the establishment's manager for a steamin' cup of Joe.

Two hitmen enjoy snacks and a smoke while conversing about their target.
