Together with Danker Home Nursing, this film takes us through the Wilmersdorf widows' district around Bundesplatz. What does it look like behind the curtains of old and sick people in the big city of Berlin? How important is it that someone comes by from time to time, not only to change a bandage, but also to talk. We meet sprightly war widows, lonely old and sick people and a former rock star who is now in a wheelchair.

The movie is about two young men who want to become master chimney sweeps. Michael Creutz goes to America to let off steam as a bodybuilder, returns disillusioned and worries about his wife, children and chimney sweep job. Karsten Schulze doesn't want to become a "demigod in black", tries his hand at many professions, gets married and is now the boss of a floor laying company. The friendship between the different characters remains.

The film portrays two homosexuals from Bundesplatz over a period of 23 years: Reimar Lenz, the non-conformist intellectual and Hans Ingebrand, a painting masseur. The two men have lived together for many years, are politically active and both experienced discrimination in their youth that still affects them today. They embrace their "otherness" and register a same-sex partnership for life at the registry office in Schmargendorf.

The film traces the development of the Turkish Yilmaz family, who have lived in Berlin for 20 years. The grandparents were born in nomadic tents in the Turkish mountains and were brought to Berlin by Siemens. The sons run a cleaning company. The children don't really know whether they are Turkish or German. From the nomadic tent near Malatya, the filmmakers follow their son Emre Yilmaz to grammar school in Berlin-Wilmersdorf.

The two daughters Maria and Antonia are also embarking on successful singing careers, while son Moritz is a high-flyer starting a career as an engineer in a Swedish company.
