In 2025 it will be 80 years since the end of World War II. What was it like to live in Sweden during the war? How were people affected by everything that happened so close to home? SVT has asked the Swedish people to send in their memories: letters, films, photographs and diaries and several thousand responses were received from all over the country.

Selma Lagerlöf's life and work never ceases to fascinate and to be relevant. Selma Lagerlöf broke with the old role of women that she was expected to accept. Against her father's wishes, she applied for, and was admitted to, a teacher training college in Stockholm. She would now be on her own. And she had a particular goal, she knew she had "a strong star"; she had stories in her, and she saw beyond the visible.

Agnes is not satisfied with her life. She wants a change, but her relationship with her single parent father and dominant girlfriend inhibit her to do something about it. When the father introduces his new wife, Annalyn, everything changes. The same-aged Filipino stepmother helps Agnes see a new path. Soon emerges something that no one could have foreseen.

In this film, the viewer follows the main character who, through a shocking glimpse of a vertical truth, is hurled straight into an inner and outer landscape that reflects the traveler's own state of mind. She finds herself in a conversation about time and space with a spirit medium and a professor of quantum physics, at an Easter dinner with priests and confronted by her inner demons in an abandoned mine. All the while she hears the room calling her on - or is it her own heart? What awaits us in the innermost room of the heart?

The performing arts were hit hard by corona restrictions. During the autumn of 2020, the Orion Theater in Stockholm will still try to open again but for a limited audience.
