Armchair Theatre is a British television drama anthology series of single plays that ran on the ITV network from 1956 to 1974. It was originally produced by Associated British Corporation, and later by Thames Television from mid-1968.

While holding their annual reunion, the former members of a Royal Air Force bomber crew begin to sense the supernatural presence of their old squadron commander, the only member of the group not to return from their last mission of the war.

Young country curate, Roger Strawbridge, and his wife, Cathy, find themselves in financial distress. In a desperate attempt to resolve their money troubles, Cathy decides to gamble on the football pools. The drama unfolds as she unexpectedly wins a massive jackpot—the "golden rain" of the title. However, the windfall brings moral and social complications rather than relief. The couple must navigate the ethical dilemma of a clergyman's family profiting from gambling, alongside the sudden, overwhelming pressures and unwanted attention that come with their new-found wealth.

When cabinet minister John Hoode is murdered at his country house, his secretary, Alan Deacon, is the prime suspect and is arrested. Reporter Anthony Gethryn determines to unmask the real murderer.

During the Edwardian era, a working-class ballet dancer begins a romance with a wealthy artist against a background of sharp disapproval.
