Edwin Mullane

A group of young men and women in Dublin in 1916 are embroiled in a fight for independence during the Easter Rising. The story begins with the outbreak of World War I. As expectations of a short and glorious campaign are dashed, social stability is eroded and Irish nationalism comes to the fore. The tumultuous events that follow are seen through the eyes of a group of friends from Dublin, Belfast and London as they play vital and conflicting roles in the narrative of Ireland's independence.

All families are mad, not least the Canavans. A drama comedy with a twist, set in the wild West of Ireland. When Colm, the head of the family, dies, there are few who mourn his passing, not even his four estranged adult children. But, the legalities of his will must be observed, and more than one Canavan sibling is harbouring secrets. As the Canavans return to the family home, the fate of the family unit, their sanity, and the Canavan estate all hang in the balance.

Angela is a domestic cleaner who keeps herself to herself. Mairead is a houseproud mother who, more often than not, finds herself alone at home with the children. When a mundane household accident forces Angela to add emergency childminding to her list of duties, a friendship begins between employer and employee. As the relationship blooms, they begin to discover that there may be more that bonds them together than just loneliness. But is this just another work-based transaction, or does it mean something else?

In the grip of a famine, a farmer must provide for his starving family, however his desperation is exploited by a mischievous being, that tempts him with something precious.
