Rumbo is a nice and splendid young man of gypsy origin who is in Seville with Gabriel, an old friend who was saved from suicide thanks to his intervention, who got rich in Paris thanks to the money Rumbo gave him, to the point of become an important and millionaire banker in London, Buenos Aires and Seville. Shortly after meeting, Gabriel asks him to impersonate him on a journey that he must undertake.

On Christmas Eve 1860, in a small Andalusian village, a married couple is murdered. The neighbors believe they know who committed the crime and kill him. Juan Luis and Dimas arrive to the "Venta del Catite", a tavern run by Rafael and his goddaughter Reyes. The tavern is frequented by tuna fishermen in the region, but in reality it is a cover for smuggling. Rafael decides to hire a beautiful singer, Raquel, to distract customers and the two new arrivals, so that he can do his business without being disturbed.
