A historical film that takes place on the eve of the thirty year war combines aspects of fairy-tales with historical dramas, fencing with a child heroes who find themselves in great dangers. We are in the year 1611 and mercenaries that had previously invaded Czech lands now have to withdraw before the Hungarian king's army. In this chaos a magical bottle, that fulfills the owner one single wish, appears among some fugitives - however after the fulfillment it has to be sold for half it's price to a new owner. The director Ludvík Ráža has created an attractive and surprisingly cruel film aimed not only at young viewers.

A TV adaptation of the famous novel in which writer Zikmund Winter depicts the life story of Prague university professor and humanist poet Jan Campanus Vodňanský and his efforts to save the ancient university after the Battle of White Mountain. Campanus gradually loses all his battles. The path of concessions leads to unintentional but tragic guilt when, at Campanus's unwitting instigation, the Jesuits seize the child of the executed Jesenius. The difficult post-White Mountain period in the Czech lands presented Campanus with a dilemma: whether to convert or to keep a clear conscience, a conflict of power and honor so common in our history...
In her ward, a young nurse, Jenka, becomes close to the hospitalized wife of the director of the local steel company, Pšeničky, who is admired by the local women. Mrs. Pšeničková recovers, but continues to suffer from anxiety and the persistent idea that she is dying. Jenka therefore takes on the responsibility of home care and helps her overcome the crisis with her simple, human approach. Her patient becomes emotionally attached to her, and Mr. Pšenička also finds a close person in Jenka and tries to win her over. The selfless nurse penetrates deeper into their complicated relationship and, under increasing pressure from both sides, experiences her first truly bitter life experience.
