"Der Schatten" shows a journalist who receives an prophecy message: Norah (Deleila Piasko) wants to risk a new beginning in the Austrian metropolis. As soon as she arrives in town, she meets a beggar woman who predicts that in six weeks she will kill a man named Arthur Grimm. At first, Norah doesn't pay any attention to the incident since the name doesn't mean anything to her, but then strange things start to happen.

Siblings Tonja and Anton Raabe have to solve the murder of a young woman and the abduction of a small child in a wooded area in Lusatia near Senftenberg. Tonja is not only confronted with her childhood trauma, but also comes into conflict with her superiors once again due to her synaesthetic abilities and solo efforts.

Florist Gwen is an employee in a flower wholesaler and is ensnared by her likable boss Joey, which the young woman does not mind. They both start an affair. The relationship with her constantly frustrated and stressful mother, Ellen, doesn't look that rosy. Thankfully, there is still her life partner Ron, the down-to-earth calm anchor of the family. While delivering flowers to the cemetery, Gwen falls into an open grave and passes out. When she wakes up again, an attractive and caring man bends over her. It is emergency doctor Lennard, a single widower with a lively teenage daughter whose wife was killed in a traffic accident a year ago. An ex-employee of her flower shop was then convicted. However, the circumstances remain mysterious. When the flower seller find out about this, she initially keep at distance. But then Gwen finds a red balloon in the garden with a message from the doctor's daughter Lilly to her dead mother, who breaks her heart, because she is a half-orphan herself.

Alma and Jan are having an affair and yet Jan does not want to admit it. In order to force him to recognize their relationship, Alma secretly takes Jan's small son, Juri on a trip. Accompanied by the delivery man Bruno, the two drive in the direction of Berlin. At a rest stop, he tries clumsily to get closer to Alma but she rebuffs him. In doing so, Alma unwittingly injures him in such a way that he drops all his inhibitions. Whereas Bruno until now was acting covertly in the hope of establishing contact, he now wants to take for himself what has been denied him.

After her training at the police academy, 24-year-old Laura begins her service in a task force of the Hamburg riot police. Sooner than expected, she realizes that the daily routine in the social hot spots of society is draining. When she makes a serious mistake during an operation, she has to decide what kind of policewoman she really wants to be.
