Biography

Hou Minghao (born in Beijing, China) is a Chinese actor and pop singer. He graduated from the Beijing Contemporary Music Academy. Hou Minghao began learning the accordion at the age of four and received awards in Beijing music competitions. In 2012, he became a trainee at South Korean entertainment company SM Entertainment, where he trained for one and a half years. He returned to China in 2014 and joined Shang Wenjie Studio as a trainee through Shang Laoban’s Trainee. On December 12, 2014, Hou debuted as a member of the boy group Fresh Geek Youth, releasing their first album, UP 4 U. The group received the Best New Group Award at the 22nd Eastern Wind and Cloud Music Awards in 2015. Hou left the group on January 11, 2016, to pursue a solo career in acting and music. Hou Minghao made his acting debut in the film Funny Soccer (2015). In 2016, he released his first self-written single, Super Dad. He received the Potential TV Actor of the Year award at the Tencent Video Starlight Awards in 2018. Hou Minghao was affiliated with Black Gold Fashion from 2014 to 2016 and Black Gold Entertainment from 2016 to 2021. He joined Hesong Media in December 2021.

SINGER, formerly known as I AM A SINGER, is a large-scale singing competition program co-produced by Hunan Broadcasting System (HBS) and Mango TV. The first four seasons were adapted from the Korean reality show I Am a Singer produced by MBC. Beginning with the 2017 season, the program was rebranded as SINGER. The series brings together established vocalists from the Chinese music industry as well as internationally renowned artists to compete on stage. In each episode, the results are determined by a panel of 500 in-studio audience judges who vote to decide the singers’ rankings and eliminations. Starting with the 2024 season, the show shifted from pre-recorded broadcasts to fully live performances and introduced an additional panel of 500 online international audience judges.
