Biography
From a young age, Sophie has been drawn to the arts, which she perceives as a gateway to the human psyche. After studying screenwriting at the Université du Québec à Montréal, she earned a bachelor’s degree in film, focusing on image editing. For over ten years, she has worked as an editor on numerous short and feature films, both fiction and documentary, which have garnered recognition at festivals worldwide. The Mechanics of Borders marks her debut as a co-writer for a screenplay brought to the screen.

Many others come for the same reason, and together their days at this campground community are dictated by English conversation classes, jaunts to the beach and afternoon lawn bowling. With lots of tenderness and good humour, the film considers the joys and woes of aging, the importance of community and American-Canadian cultural differences.

The Catch
For the first time in decades, Simon and Jonathan can agree: their late father would have hated the farce surrounding his funeral. ”We should have spread his ashes over Gouin Reservoir.” The spur-of-the-moment idea quickly becomes a plan.
