Politician Antonis Papastavrou marries his son Dimitris Papastavrou to Erietta, the only daughter of his childhood friend Stefanos Sekeris. Sekeris's wife is having an illicit affair with a much younger man, Andreas. On the wedding day, in front of everyone on the steps of the church, Papastavrou is murdered and the young Andreas is arrested as the perpetrator.
