Dansk Melodi Grand Prix is an annual music competition organised by Danish public broadcaster Danmarks Radio, which determines the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. The festival has produced three Eurovision winners and thirteen top-five placings.

Selma, a Czech immigrant on the verge of blindness, struggles to make ends meet for herself and her son, who has inherited the same genetic disorder and will suffer the same fate without an expensive operation. When life gets too difficult, Selma learns to cope through her love of musicals, dreaming up little numbers to the rhythmic beats of her surroundings.

Vild med dans is the Danish version of Dancing with the Stars and is shown by TV 2 in Denmark. Seasons 1 and 2 were presented by Andrea Elisabeth Rudolph and Peter Hansen. Season 3 was presented by Christine Lorentzen and Claus Elming. Seasons 4-6 were presented by Andrea Elisabeth Rudolph and Claus Elming. Season 7 is presented by Christiane Schaumburg-Müller and Claus Elming. The show features four judges. Anne Laxholm, Britt Bendixen, and Jens Werner have been featured in all seasons. Season 1 featured Kim Dahl as the fourth judge. In season 2, he was replaced by Thomas Evers Poulsen, the only person to have appeared on the show both as a professional contestant and as a judge. Since season 3, Allan Tornsberg has been the fourth judge.

Karl Åge and Regitze host a summer garden party for close friends, their son, and his family. Karl Åge is quiet, detached; Regitze is spirited, lively. He thinks back: love at first sight during the war, living together unmarried, her mother's hunger strike when they won't baptize their son. Regitze is passionate and forthright; she speaks her mind. He remembers her inviting a derelict for Christmas dinner, and the man shows up with five bashful friends. He recalls her taking on their son's teacher when the man slaps the lad. He remembers her love of dancing and his fear that his social clumsiness might end their relationship. Now, in twilight, he has other things to face.

The slightly self-indulgent artist Thorvald collapses during an interview made in celebration of his 80th birthday and dies shortly after. But in spite of his death Thorvald can still follow those left behind. From a distance, and for better or worse, he sees with his own eyes the imprint he has left on his family and especially his son Vincent, who had a strained relationship with his father.
