Suspecting her husband is trapped in an out-of-body experience, Alma turns to her estranged step-son for help escaping her own body.
After a solar flare powers down her remote community, Alma discovers her husband Terry comatose. Suspecting he is having an out-of-body affair with an ex-lover, Alma attempts to bring him back to reality with help from Terry's estranged, drug-addled son and the leader of a new-age religion that specializes in astral travel.
Sam, a hobby musician and copywriter, and Cara, a survivor of a mysterious accident resulting in a loss of hearing, are navigating a fragile young marriage. Their nascent relationship becomes troubled, as a series of secrets and interlopers begin to blur the borders of truthful communication between them. Both struggling with their perception of the situation, innocence and culpability for the difficulties in their relationship is clouded within the space of silence between them.
