A teacher arrives at a humble school in the Buenos Aires suburbs to serve as a substitute. There he meets Sofía, a gifted 7-year-old girl. The teacher quickly notices that Sofía may be a case of hidden talent in that environment and decides to do something to help her.

Mario and Ana, in voluntary exile from Buenos Aires, live in a remote Argentine valley with their 12-year-old son Ernesto. Into this idealistic family comes Hans, a jaded Spanish geological engineer -- surveying the land for the local patron, to see if it can be dammed for hydro-electric power, which would drive the peasants from the land into the cities.

Pablo Rouviot is a renowned psychoanalyst. His life changes completely when Paula arrives to his office and asks him to prove that his brother, a man with serious psychological problems and accused for the murder of his father, is in no able condition to be judged.

Lidia Muñoz is a retiree who has been living in Barcelona since 1978. Lidia was forced to exile from Argentina after the military dictatorship that ruled the country at that time tried to kidnap her and make her disappear. Pregnant with her only daughter, Valeria, she managed to escape to Spain. Forty years later, she receives a summons from the Argentine Ministry of Justice to testify in the trial for the kidnapping and disappearance of Oscar Medina, her boyfriend at the time and Valeria's father.

It tells the story of a people who stood on the side of the freedom, civilization and progress, but also some who are on the side of unbridled capitalism and race. However, they is still a possibilities of utopia and solidarity.
