The film depicts the everyday lives of children in Nicaragua in three episodes.

Ernst Busch, singer and actor, was a political artist. For the 20th anniversary of his death on June 8, 2000, Peter Voigt embarked on an unusual search for clues. The focus of his film about the idiosyncratic artist is not biographical details, but the central conflicts in the field of tension between politics and culture that determined Busch's life.

A brief history of the emergence and artistic innovations of tango in 19th-century Argentina and Europe. The film offers a mosaic of tango melodies, art works, dance performances, historical footage, photographs of Buenos Aires at the turn of the 20th century, and texts by Celedonio Flores and Enrique Santos Discépolo.

The history of Baden-Württemberg begins in 1952 with an imposed fusion. In 1956, opponents of the merger have organized themselves to the point that a referendum is to reverse the decision after the fact. The referendum does not take place until 1970 with a turnout of 62.5% and ends with a vote in favor of the merger of 81.9%. The example of the Baden-Württemberg fusion is used to illustrate how such a fusion takes place, how conflicts are settled, and what the final outcome is.

Shortly behind the once East Prussian, now Russian town of Tilsit, the Memel splits into a delta. The widest arms of this delta, the Ruß and Gilge, finally flow into the Curonian Lagoon. The river landscape is characterized by high soil moisture. Cultivation was only possible thanks to a complicated drainage system. The Gilge was also an important waterway. Today, this drainage system is decaying, the Gilge is silting up and the landscape is being renaturalized. The old villages are falling into disrepair due to a lack of money and life is characterized by increasing poverty. We meet the inhabitants, such as the farmer Anatoli, who came here from Siberia and built a new house on the foundations of a German house, or old Anastasia, who can still remember living with the Germans until they were expelled.

Sitting at her typewriter, listening to tango music, she dreams. Buenos Aires and Montevideo are far away, a different world where, long ago, the tango came into being. A dream about dance and music, as well as about unfulfilled desire and wanderlust behind the Berlin Wall.

Rostock - GDR county on the Baltic. This county covering the northern part of the GDR is the welcoming destination of many people: holidaymakers, tourists, people on business trips and seamen. Sometimes there is an equal number of local residents and visitors. The film reports on the development of this formerly backward region to an advanced agrarian and industrial county. It reports on the way of life and achievements of the people and gives the viewer an impression of the county's scenic beauties.

The film follows Circus Hein for a few days. Sandra, Benjamin, Enrico and Jessica are in the circus ring with their parents as clowns and acrobats.

Portrait of the two main actors of the children's film "White Cloud Carolin", Andreas Roll and Constanze Berndt. They are observed and interviewed on several days during the making of the film. The two children introduce themselves directly to the viewer and talk openly and self-confidently about how they came to make the film and about their experiences during the course of filming.
