Filmmakers Wu Wenguang and Jian Yi trained 10 villagers from across China to make films documenting electoral processes in their home villages. Pursuing the ideal that anyone can become a documentary filmmaker, this project sparked a new model of Chinese participatory documentary, with community members depicting their own lives. The resulting works—surprisingly humorous, and filled with their own local flavor—vividly reveal the realities of village life and democracy in action.

My Village 2020

As scheduled, I arrived at the election venue, this year's election is particularly large participants, I saw the efforts of the two candidates, both have the determination to win the village chief seal. The villagers are also enthusiastic, which is not seen in previous elections. It seems that there are two opposing factions. Including the members of the election committee, including the leaders of the town who came down to help with the election, the calm and seemingly good-tempered election scene seemed to have a hunch that this hunch was finally fulfilled before the election results came out!
