Mike (Jean-Paul Belmondo) is a stuntman who works with his girlfriend Jane (Raquel Welch). On their wedding day Mike and Jane are forced by producers to do a stunt for a film they are working on. Mike, annoyed doesn't look on the road and crashes the car causing them to end up in a hospital. After they come out Jane doesn't want to talk to Mike so he decides to get her a job in a film in which he is a stunt double for his double who is a star in action pictures but is in fact a wimp.

Charles Duchemin, a well-known gourmet and publisher of a famous restaurant guide, is waging a war against fast food entrepreneur Tri- catel to save the French art of cooking. After having agreed to appear on a talk show to show his skills in naming food and wine by taste, he is confronted with two disasters: his son wants to become a clown rather than a restaurant tester and he, the famous Charles Duchemin, has lost his taste!

A charming racecar driver is visited by his 20-year-old son who is nothing like his father. Solemn and introverted, the boy is shown the ways of sensual pleasure by his father's mistress, but he falls in love with another young woman. Intending to marry the girl, the young man takes the relationship very seriously. His father, however, believes the boy should have a more carefree lifestyle and decides to intervene by seducing his own son's fiance. This action proves to be a tremendous mistake.
