Georg Maltus wants to make a career as an editor in Munich, but has to make do with a job as publicity manager for pop singer Kim Calder. Kim lives on the outskirts of the city in a wooden house with bum types who are involved in his "Wilder Reiter GmbH". Georg arranges wild gigs for the boss, arranges a rescue operation for a nun who has run away from the convent and a fake kidnapping of Kim, who ends up in hospital. When Kim sells herself to an American producer, Georg escapes the hustle and bustle.

A young man named Jürgen joins the military. As much as he tries to make a heroic career as a soldier in a rearmed West Germany, he fails utterly and ends up in a bizarre sanatorium.

How manipulable are people? Mr. O. considers himself to be uninfluenceable. His daily routine with the corresponding decision-making situations and behaviors gives two commentators cause to take different positions on human dependence on external influences: While one wants to declare Mr. O. a will-less object of advertising, for example, the other believes his freedom is never at risk.

Wolfgang is an apprentice at a car repair shop and is in financial trouble; he urgently needs 200 marks. Completely desperate, he calls the telephone counseling service. At first, he does not want to reveal the reason for his predicament, but then he confesses that he has been secretly “borrowing” cars from the repair shop for months.
