Petra, a young, just graduated economist returns to her native village Lokvica to take part in illegal business of smothering tobacco and other goods over the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by her grandmother Zorka.

The plot of the series follows a family that, in part and forcibly, has to live under the same roof. Ana and Boris are a young married couple with whom, due to a combination of circumstances, her sister and her entire family suddenly move in, as well as her and Ana's father.

The series "Advokado" follows the ups and downs of the main character Brane and his faithful companion Beli. At the center of the plot are their friendly and family relations as they try to find the meaning and peace in life.

Boris and Ana are spouses who dream of living in Brussels, where he would build his political career, and she would live a life worthy of a high-ranking politician’s wife. Asthmatic grandmother named Safa and her six-month baby granddaughter Jasmina, are transferred in a humanitarian convoy from the besieged Sarajevo to a peaceful small city at the Adriatic coast. By a combination of circumstances, their first neighbour is an alcoholic named Stipe. He is constantly causing troubles and making their lives complicated. During one of her asthma attacks, having no other choices, Safa rings Stipe's bell and hands him the baby. Stipe starts to temporarily take care about baby Jasmina. Safa dies at the hospital and now Stipe is left alone with the baby. He's clumsy, even funny. She becomes his only mission in life. He is not ready to give Jasmina away to anyone. He loved her as if his own granddaughter even daughter. Suddenly someone is at the door. Stipe recognises Jasmina's mother. In spite of all his internal struggles, he returns Jasmina to her mother. Stipe stays alone, again.

Croatian countryside. Middle of the night. Darko, owner of the local agricultural discount-shop wakes up the vicar of the small parish church to reveal his own dark secret to him. But that's not the only thing Darko is planning to reveal to vicar.

Kingdom of Yugoslavia. As soon as she was born, Stana had both hands bit off by a pig, but she still grows to be good embroiderer. Her beloved brother Toma went into the city, where he's trying to make money by working in the circus. Toma comes to take Stana, promising her a better life in the city. However, she find herself left to the fate of circus act, and her brother eventually sells her to a doctor working on prostheses for disabled. At the same time, with the help of his uncle from the States, Toma tries to pull his cousin Ilija out from jail, a miner imprisoned for his leftist inclinations.

Ankica is the proud owner of a legitimate massage salon, which she runs with her best friend Ljilja. She dreams of keeping her out-of-work husband and adult daughter in comfort while helping Ljilja pay for her son's recurring rehab programs. But in reality, Ankica’s debts are mounting, and she refuses to add happy endings (sexual favors) at the salon to increase revenues. When a loan shark threatens to take her apartment if she does not repay her debt, in desperation, she turns to crime.
