Sammy Johnson played Spender's sidekick Stick, while Denise Welch played Spender's wife.
A 59-year-old carpenter recovering from a heart attack befriends a single mother and her two kids as they navigate the impersonal, Kafkaesque benefits system. With equal amounts of humour, warmth and despair, the journey is heartfelt and emotional until the end.
Hangar 17 show was a music and variety show for 9 to 13 year olds. The show was presented by stand-up comedian Mickey Hutton and featured a mixture of jugglers, mime artists and comedians along with the more usual musical guests. In the first series the show promoted unsigned musical guests, during a Battle of the Bands feature but this idea was dropped from the second series in favour of more established acts such as East 17. The show also featured Brit School pupil Paul Leyshon as the show's resident DJ and was produced by Peter Leslie.
Mud was a 1994 CBBC television show, starring Russell Brand, Brooke Kinsella, Russell Tovey in their early appearances and a teddy bear called Steve. A group of disadvantaged children are taken by their social worker to an outdoor activity centre to escape their problems.
