The story of a young, wild woman who doesn't want to compromise and settle down. Stella is a restless, rebellious Greek woman who plays with men and enjoys her life as much as she can. Four stories, humorous, romantic or dramatic, are linked by a counterfeit gold sovereign. It is made by the honest engraver in the first story, seduced by the charms of a young widow, and it subsequently passes into the hands of a beggar and a prostitute, a wealthy miser and a newly married couple where the husband is a poor artist.

Tassos is a kiosk owner who is in love with Foula. He has a constant fear of vehicles speeding past his kiosk. His friend Vangelis wants to help him overcome his fear. A series of strange events, misunderstandings, and unrequited love will lead to the marriage of Tasos and Foula.

To locate the heir of $500,000, an affluent Greek-American places an announcement in the newspaper, and hundreds of potential plutocrats start flocking to the city. Will he ever find the lucky one? Is love more important than money?

Returning to Athens after the end of the World War II, Captain Nikolas finds out what happened to his family from a neighbor.

The film, with many scenes shot on location, constitutes a precious document as it exquisitely captures some of the most important landmarks of Athens and its outskirts, as well as daily life in the 1930s. synchronise moving images with a sound-ondisc system in Greece, using a semiimprovised setup according to press coverage of the time.

A widowed taverna owner tries to improve himself in order to please the aristocratic family of his son's wife. He manages to change things and ends up training everyone else instead.
