A melancholic gunfighter is drawn into a vengeful and tragic kidnapping plot by his widowed ex-lover.
Southern France, 19th century. Teresa, a young girl, arrives at an isolated female boarding school that is tyrannically mastered by Mrs. Fourneau, the strict headmistress, whose protective shadow haunts Luis, her weak son.
A wealthy Englishman finds his third wife dead. After the police discover that his first two wives had also died suddenly, an investigation is launched. Meanwhile, a new neighbor moves in and becomes very interested in him.
Like every night, Manuel remembers the old days of glory, when after the war he was a famous bullfighter. He and his friend Juan were the fashionable couple. A rainy day forces Joaquin, Joe Luis and Alvaro to refuge in Martins' house. They also go there two Swedish girls who want love and spanish ham; a nun with hobbies of racing driver; a fat priest; a policeman unable to establish order; and the father of Joaquin, a fortune hunter. In the chaos that is triggered, the five young people discover their common love for music and they form a band.
